Awareness and Education Programs

Genentech BioOncology proudly supports not only patients but healthcare professionals with an array of awareness and education programs specifically committed to promoting cancer awareness and improving patients' lives.

The Strike Out Cancer Program is a home run for patients: Through the national Strike Out Cancer program, we donate much needed funds to nonprofit organizations dedicated to providing free emotional support, education, and hope for people with cancer and their loved ones.

Cancer Connections: This online resource is designed to help patients and caregivers whose lives are affected by cancer access educational and supportive information about their condition and available treatment options. With this new resource, patients and their loved ones can select their cancer type from a single menu and take advantage of what each program has to offer.

 Frankly Speaking About Cancer: This comprehensive patient education series was created by  The Wellness Community, an international nonprofit organization.

Clinical Trials

• Genentech Clinical Trial Education: This resource explains what is involved in a clinical trial from a patient's perspective. It describes the purpose and the benefits of clinical trials, and what patients need to know before agreeing to be in a clinical trial.

Avastin Education Materials

• Overcoming Your Fears of Breast Cancer Treatment (PDF): This booklet, developed by BreastCancer.org, is designed to help patients get over the fears that can stop them from getting the best possible breast cancer treatment.

• Your Guide to Breast Cancer Treatment (PDF): This booklet, developed by BreastCancer.org, provides information about the main types of breast cancer treatment available.

Rituxan Education Materials

• Learning About Non-Hodgkins Lymphoma (PDF): This booklet is a useful reference when you have been first diagnosed with non-Hodgkin's lymphoma (NHL). It contains information on diagnostic tests, disease grades and stages, and various treatment options for people with NHL.

• Learning About Aggressive Non-Hodgkin's Lymphoma / Learning About Indolent Non-Hodgkin's Lymphoma (PDF): This information sheet discusses the 2 main categories of non-Hodgkin's lymphoma, aggressive and indolent. Learn what types of lymphoma (eg, diffuse large B-cell or follicular NHL) are in these categories and more about your specific type of NHL.

• Living With Non-Hodgkin's Lymphoma (NHL): A Guide for Non-Hodgkins Lymphoma Patients (PDF): This resource offers suggestions for dealing with emotions you may feel when coping with NHL. It offers tips to help you feel more in control and lists questions you may want to ask your healthcare provider.

• A Caregiver's Guide: When a Loved One has Non-Hodgkin's Lymphoma (PDF): Caring for someone with NHL can be difficult. This reference provides information on what people with NHL are going through and how caregivers may best help their loved ones.

• Living With Lymphoma: Your patients may have questions about the disease, their treatment options, and the impact of NHL on their life. This resource can give them some answers and support.

• Patient Administration Tear Pad (PDF): The Patient Administration Tear Pad is designed to be given to patients prior to their receiving treatment with Rituxan. The sheet lists information and tips for patients to help prepare them for the infusion.

• Tarceva Patient Brochure for NSCLC (PDF): This brochure, Exploring Your Next Option, uses straightforward language to educate patients and the people who care for them about the disease, its causes, stages, and available treatments options, including side effects. It includes general information on what to expect and where to find additional help.

• Tarceva Patient Brochure for Pancreatic Cancer (PDF): This booklet, Facing Challenges Together, provides information for patients and their caregivers about Tarceva, a targeted treatment option for patients with Pancreatic Cancer.

• Tarecva Patient Brochure in Spanish (PDF): This booklet for Spanish speakers provides information for patients and their caregivers about Tarceva, a targeted treatment option for patients with advanced NSCLC. The benefits of taking Tarceva and how it works are examined, as well as possible side effects and important product safety information.

• Patient Tear Sheet: Advanced NSCLC (PDF): This downloadable sheet is specifically designed for nurses to provide to their patients and includes a place for nurses to write in the prescribed dose and dose time for each individual patient.

• Tarceva Skin Care Guide (PDF): This brochure highlights important information on Tarceva, including ways to care for your skin. These helpful tips are not meant to replace your doctor's or nurse's medical advice. Talk with your doctor or nurse for more ways to help care for your skin while taking Tarceva for your advanced Non-Small Cell Lung Cancer (NSCLC) or advanced pancreatic cancer.
